Philip & the Ethiopian
Good News for Everyone
The Story
Acts 8:26-40
An angel told Philip to go to a desert road. Philip obeyed immediately. On the road, he saw a chariot carrying an important official from Ethiopia โ a powerful man in charge of his queen's treasury.
The man was reading from the book of Isaiah as he rode along. The Holy Spirit told Philip, 'Go over and walk beside that chariot!'
Philip ran up alongside and asked, 'Do you understand what you're reading?' The man said, 'How can I, unless someone explains it to me?' He invited Philip to ride along.
The man was reading a prophecy about Jesus! Philip explained it and shared the Good News. The official believed and asked to be baptized right there in some water by the road. God's good news was spreading to all nations!
