Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life
The Story
John 11:1-44
Lazarus was the brother of Mary and Martha — some of Jesus' closest friends. When Lazarus got very sick, his sisters sent for Jesus. But by the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days.
Martha ran to meet Jesus and cried, 'Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died!' Jesus looked at her with love and said, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.'
Jesus went to the tomb. When He saw Mary weeping and others crying, John records the shortest verse in the Bible: 'Jesus wept.' He cared deeply about their sadness.
Jesus commanded them to roll away the stone. Then He called out: 'LAZARUS, COME OUT!' And Lazarus walked out — alive! The crowd was astonished, and many believed in Jesus that day.
What Can We Learn?
Jesus Has Power Over Death
Jesus raised Lazarus after FOUR days! Nothing is too late, too far gone, or too impossible for Jesus.
Jesus Cares About Your Tears
'Jesus wept.' He sees your sadness and feels it with you. He is never indifferent to your pain.
He IS Resurrection and Life
Jesus didn't just perform a miracle — He IS life. Eternal life is found in Him.
Believe Even When It Seems Too Late
Martha thought it was too late. It never is with Jesus. Keep believing!
