Peace in the Middle of the Storm
The Story
Mark 4:35-41
Jesus and His disciples got into a boat to cross the Sea of Galilee. Jesus was so tired He fell fast asleep in the back of the boat.
Suddenly, a huge storm swept in. The waves crashed over the sides and the boat started to fill with water. Experienced fishermen were terrified! They ran to wake Jesus, shouting, 'Teacher, don't you care that we're going to drown?'
Jesus woke up, looked at the raging storm, and said three words: 'Silence! Be still!' Instantly, the wind stopped and the sea became perfectly calm — like glass.
Then Jesus asked, 'Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?' They were absolutely amazed and whispered to each other: 'Who is this man? Even the wind and waves obey Him!'
What Can We Learn?
Jesus Is in Your Boat
Jesus was WITH the disciples in the storm. He is WITH YOU in your storms too!
Jesus Is Never Panicking
Jesus was fast asleep while the storm raged. He knows the outcome — there is no need to fear.
He Commands the Chaos
Three words — 'Silence! Be still!' — stopped a storm. Jesus has authority over everything that frightens you.
Run to Jesus, Not Away
The disciples went TO Jesus with their fear. When you're scared, go straight to Jesus!
