A Boy Who Listened
The Story
1 Samuel 3
Samuel was a young boy living and working in the temple with the priest Eli. One night, as he was sleeping, he heard a voice calling his name! 'Samuel!' He ran to Eli thinking it was him, but Eli said he hadn't called.
This happened three times! The third time, Eli realized it must be God calling Samuel. Eli told him, 'Go lie down, and if He calls again, say: Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening!'
Samuel went back and waited. God called again and Samuel answered exactly as Eli had told him. God spoke, and Samuel listened.
From that night on, Samuel became a great prophet — someone who listened to God and shared His messages with all of Israel. God loves it when we listen!
