Jonah & the Whale
Running from God Never Works!
The Story
Jonah 1-4
God told Jonah to go to the big city of Nineveh and tell the people there to stop doing wrong things. But Jonah didn't want to go — he hopped on a boat going the OPPOSITE direction!
A huge storm hit the boat. Jonah knew it was because of him. He told the sailors to throw him overboard, and as soon as they did, the storm stopped!
Jonah sank into the ocean — but God wasn't done with him. A GIANT fish came and swallowed Jonah whole! For three days and nights, Jonah sat in the belly of the fish.
Inside the fish, Jonah finally prayed and told God he was sorry. God commanded the fish to spit Jonah out on the beach. This time, Jonah went to Nineveh — and the whole city listened and changed!
What Can We Learn?
You Can't Run from God
No matter where you go, God is there. You can't hide from Him — and that's actually good news!
Repentance Brings Freedom
When Jonah said sorry and obeyed, everything changed. Saying sorry to God is powerful!
God Loves Everyone
God cared about the people in Nineveh even though Jonah didn't want to. God's love is for everyone!
Second Chances Are Real
God gave Jonah a second chance. He gives us second chances too!
